Bernie Berry, Alan Clarke and Richard Williams made statements and answered questions.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study on the state of Pacific salmon, the members submit their list of suggested witnesses no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, November 27, 2020.
Marilène Gill moved, — That the committee undertake a comprehensive study of seals that would examine the ecosystem impacts of seal overpopulation in the waters of Quebec, Eastern and Western Canada, international experience in seal stock management, the domestic and international market potential for various seal products, social acceptability, and the socio-cultural importance of developing the seal hunt for coastal and First Nations communities with access to the resource, and that the committee strongly consider travel to countries such as Scotland, Norway and Iceland, either virtually or physically, which acted to conserve fish stocks as a result of seal population.
The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:
