Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the committee resumed its study of Canada-China relations.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed.

At 1:18 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed schedule, which reads as follows, be concurred in:

1) That the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, along with senior officials, appear before the committee on Monday, November 16, 2020;

2) That the first hour of the meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, be dedicated to senior officials from Global Affairs Canada to provide the committee with a briefing session regarding the situation in Tibet and that the second hour be dedicated to a meeting of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure;

3) That the Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with senior officials, appear before the committee on Monday, November 23, 2020;

4) That the Honourable John McCallum and Robert Wright appear before the committee on Tuesday, November 24, 2020;

5) That the committee start consideration of a draft report on the situation in Hong Kong on Monday, November 30, 2020.

It was agreed, — That, the Chair, in consultation with the vice-chairs, finalize and publish the news release expressing the committee’s disappointment with the response received from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China by the end of this week.

At 1:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
