[Translation]
Members of the committee, I see a quorum.
[English]
I must inform members that the clerk of the committee can only receive motions for the election of the chair. The clerk cannot receive other types of motions, entertain points of order nor participate in debate.
We can now proceed to the election of the chair.
[Translation]
I am now ready to receive motions for the election of the chair.
[English]
Are there any further motions?
(Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Ms. Sgro duly elected chair of the committee.
Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
If the committee is in agreement, I invite the clerk to proceed with the election of the vice-chairs.
Is everything okay with that?
Some hon. members: Agreed.
I declare the motion carried and Mr. Lukiwski duly elected vice-chair of the committee.
Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
Madam Chair, I have some routine motions that I'd like to bring forward to the committee.
The first one is as follows. I move:
That, pursuant to Standing Order 107(6), a Subcommittee on Committee Budgets be established to approve committees’ budget requests and that the membership of the subcommittee be composed of the Chair and the Vice-Chair of the Committee, as well as three other Government members, and one other member of the Official Opposition, as appointed by their respective whips.
The next one, Madam Chair, is as follows. I move:
That the Clerk of the Committee be authorized to make the necessary arrangements to provide working meals for the Committee and its subcommittees; and
That the Committee retain, as needed and at the discretion of the Chair, the services of one or more analysts from the Library of Parliament to assist it in its work.
Are there any comments or discussion?
(Motion agreed to)
The Chair: Would the analysts like to join us here at the table, please?
Madam Chair, I'd like to put a motion that we now go in camera to look at the report on committee activities and expenditures.
