Pursuant to the order of reference of Wednesday, February 19, 2020, the committee commenced consideration of Bill C-5, An Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code.

The Hon. J. Michael MacDonald and the Hon. Adèle Kent made statements and answered questions.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 1:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:03 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Committee Business
The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $14,300, for the study of Bill C-5, An Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the members of the committee submit to the clerk all of their proposed amendments to Bill C-5 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
