It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in public.
At 11:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:08 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.
Sylvie Bérubé moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the current Indigenous crisis in Quebec and Canada; that it invite the key stakeholders at the centre of this crisis: the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs, the ministers concerned and experts on Indigenous affairs; and that it report back to the House.
Arnold Viersen moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “that it invite the key stakeholders at the centre of this crisis: the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs” with the following: "In the spirit of reconciliation and to ensure all Indigenous voices are heard, the committee should hear from the affected Indigenous Chiefs, Indigenous local leaders, including Coast Gaslink, so that they can provide a more fulsome exploration of this issue".
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Arnold Viersen and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 7.
Gord Johns moved, — That the motion be amended by deleting the following: "the key stakeholders at the centre of this crisis: the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs".

The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That, in accordance with Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study on the current Indigenous crisis in Quebec and Canada; that it invite the ministers concerned and experts on Indigenous affairs; and that it report back to the House.
Serge Beaudoin made a statement and, with Tom Wong and Wayne Walsh, answered questions.
On motion of Gary Anandasangaree, it was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure meet today at 12:45 p.m.
