Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Parliamentary Protective Service.

The Speaker made a statement and, with Marc Bosc, Philippe Dufresne and Patrick McDonell, answered questions.

At 12:21 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:23 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Hon. Maryam Monsef, Minister of Democratic Institutions, to appear on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in relation to the content of Bill C-33, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, the Committee not meet on Thursday, December 1, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the Chief Electoral Officer’s report entitled "An Electoral Framework for the 21st Century: Recommendations from the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Following the 42nd General Election", the Committee provide drafting instructions to the Analyst on Tuesday, December 6, 2016; and, that the Committee consider the draft report on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

At 12:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
