Hello, everybody. Welcome to INAN, the indigenous and northern affairs committee.
We're on unceded Algonquin territory here in Ottawa. At a time when Canada is finally dealing with truth and reconciliation in a sincere and proactive manner, it's important for us to recognize the lands that we're on and the history we've gone through and that we are building together in a more positive Canada.
We have a couple of jobs to do before we get into the fire study.
We have a change in our vice-chair. I'll turn it over to our clerk. He will be conducting the election.
Mike.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the second vice-chair must be a member of an opposition party other than the official opposition.
I am now prepared to receive a motion for the second vice-chair.
Mr. Vandal.
It has been moved by Dan Vandal that Rachel Blaney be elected as second vice-chair of the committee.
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
Some hon. members: Agreed.
(Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Rachel Blaney duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
Welcome.
We have some guests coming in from Island Lake.
Make yourselves at home. Take a seat.
Oh, we're going in camera. Darn, they came all this way.
I misled you. You can't stay.
Is there another committee happening nearby that they might be able to sit in on?
A voice: There's another one down the hall. Do you want me to check?
