Pursuant to Standing Order 32(2), Mr. Blair (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada) laid upon the Table, — Annual Report of the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime for 2014-2015. — Sessional Paper No. 8525-421-13.

Presenting Reports from Committees

Mr. Fillmore (Halifax), from the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs, presented the Third Report of the Committee, "Declaration of Health Emergency by First Nations Communities in Northern Ontario". — Sessional Paper No. 8510-421-56.

Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requested that the government table a comprehensive response.

A copy of the relevant Minutes of Proceedings (Meetings Nos. 8, 13 and 14) was tabled.


Introduction of Private Members' Bills

Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Caron (Rimouski-Neigette—Témiscouata—Les Basques), seconded by Ms. Sansoucy (Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot), Bill C-274, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (transfer of small business or family farm or fishing corporation), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.


Pursuant to Standing Orders 68(2) and 69(1), on motion of Mr. Barsalou-Duval (Pierre-Boucher—Les Patriotes—Verchères), seconded by Mrs. Gill (Manicouagan), Bill C-275, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (business transfer), was introduced, read the first time, ordered to be printed and ordered for a second reading at the next sitting of the House.

And of the motion of Mr. Lamoureux (Winnipeg North), seconded by Mr. Vaughan (Spadina—Fort York), — That this question be now put.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

Pursuant to Standing Order 61(2), the question was put on the original motion and it was agreed to.

Government Orders

The Order was read for the consideration at report stage of Bill C-2, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act, as reported by the Standing Committee on Finance without amendment.

Mrs. Lebouthillier (Minister of National Revenue) for Mr. Morneau (Minister of Finance), seconded by Ms. Hajdu (Minister of Status of Women), moved, — That the Bill be concurred in at report stage.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on division.

Accordingly, the Bill was concurred in at report stage.

Pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(11), Mrs. Lebouthillier (Minister of National Revenue) for Mr. Morneau (Minister of Finance), seconded by Ms. Hajdu (Minister of Status of Women), moved, — That the Bill be now read a third time and do pass.

Private Members' Business

At 5:31 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 30(7), the House proceeded to the consideration of Private Members' Business.

The Order was read for the second reading and reference to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights of Bill C-229, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts (life sentences).

Mr. Liepert (Calgary Signal Hill), seconded by Mr. Trost (Saskatoon—University), moved, — That the Bill be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.

Debate arose thereon.

Pursuant to Standing Order 93(1), the Order was dropped to the bottom of the order of precedence on the Order Paper.

Adjournment Proceedings

At 6:30 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 38(1), the question “That this House do now adjourn” was deemed to have been proposed.

After debate, the question was deemed to have been adopted.
