STATEMENT BY THE CHAIR
The Chair reminded members of the Committee of the rules of order and decorum in Committee.
Jean-Nicholas Beuze and Craig Damian Smith made statements and answered questions.
At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:36 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Christina Clark-Kazak, Majed El Shadie and Adiba Yezidi made statements and answered questions.
Larry Maguire gave notice of the following motion:
That the Committee formally request the Auditor General to undertake a fulsome review of the irregular migrants crossing the southern border that the audit include Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB), Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the functioning of the Ad Hoc Intergovernmental Task Force on Irregular Migration.
Larry Maguire gave notice of the following motion:
That the Committee invite the Parliamentary Budget Officer for a two-hour meeting, to discuss his report titled, “Costing Irregular Migration across Canada’s Southern Border” before the House rises before Christmas.
At 5:16 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 5:19 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study on the migration challenges and opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, regarding the study on the United Nations Global Compact on Migration and Global Compact on Refugees, the Committee meet on Monday, December 3, 2018, to consider a draft interim report.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study on the migration challenges and opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century, the Committee meet on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, to hear from witnesses regarding their perspective on the situation in Latin America.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study on the migration challenges and opportunities for Canada in the 21st Century and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, regarding the interim report on the United Nations Global Compact on Migration and Global Compact on Refugees, any dissenting or supplementary opinions be provided, in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at noon.
At 5:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
