Pursuant to Standing Order 81(6), the Committee commenced consideration of the Interim Estimates 2018-19: Votes 1 and 5 under Canada Border Services Agency, Vote 1 under Canadian Security Intelligence Service, Vote 1 under Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Votes 1 and 5 under Correctional Service of Canada, Votes 1 and 5 under Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Vote 1 under Office of the Correctional Investigator of Canada, Vote 1 under Parole Board of Canada, Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Vote 1 under Royal Canadian Mounted Police External Review Committee, Vote 1 under Secretariat of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, Vote 1 under Security Intelligence Review Committee, referred to the Committee on Monday, February 12, 2018.

Pierre Paul-Hus moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold a briefing with the Privy Council Office’s Director of Security Operations to discuss whether or not the Privy Council Office was afforded the opportunity to properly screen convicted terrorist Jaspal Atwal before being issued an invitation to attend events with the Prime Minister and the cabinet; that the Committee make recommendations and report its findings to the House.
Michel Picard moved, — That the debate be now adjourned.

Pierre Paul-Hus moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold a briefing with national security advisor Daniel Jean to testify and fully explain why and how reporters were told that convicted terrorist Jaspal Atwal's invitation was facilitated by "elements" within the Indian government; that the Committee make recommendations and report its findings to the House.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of indigenous people in the correctional system, the proposed budget in the amount of $80,747.60, for the Committee’s travel to Québec, Quebec, Donnacona, Quebec, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Mâskwâcîs, Alberta, and Edmonton, Alberta, in Spring 2018, be adopted.
