At 11:44 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:48 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study of international best practices for engaging with Indigenous communities when it comes to major energy projects; that the study include, but not be limited to, early engagement, mutual benefit agreements or similar contracts, accommodation measures, opportunities for Indigenous business as well as direct employment, outcomes for Indigenous communities after a project completes its lifecycle as well as, general challenges other countries have faced in their relationship with Indigenous peoples and how those countries addressed or solved those challenges; that the study comprise no more than ten meetings; that the Committee report its findings to the House; and that pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.
It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of international best practices for engaging with Indigenous communities when it comes to major energy projects, each party send a list of witnesses, by priority, including their contact information to the Clerk of the Committee no later than Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
