CANADIANS INVITED TO SHARE THEIR VIEWS ON ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION

Ottawa, September 29, 2017 -

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology is undertaking the statutory review of An Act to promote the efficiency and adaptability of the Canadian economy by regulating certain activities that discourage reliance on electronic means of carrying out commercial activities, and to amend the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Act, the Competition Act, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the Telecommunications Act – more commonly known as the “Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation” (CASL).

The focus of the review will include the scope, substance and enforcement of the CASL, along with relevant technological developments.

The Committee invites Canadians to submit briefs no longer than 3 pages. For more information on how to prepare a submission, please consult the Guide for Submitting Briefs to House of Commons Committees. Written briefs may be sent to: indu@parl.gc.ca.

The witness testimony to date for this review is available on the Committee website.

The Committee invites Canadians to visit fightspam.gc.ca to obtain information on the CASL and recent enforcement actions, along with spam warnings.
