Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 5, 2018, the Committee proceeded to a briefing with the Chief Statistician of Canada.

Anil Arora made a statement and answered questions.

Motion

Dan Albas moved, — That, further to the appearance of the Chief Statistician, the Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Privacy Commissioner, TransUnion, and the Canadian Banker’s Association to appear.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the motion out of order, as the proposed motion does not contain sufficient variance from the one rejected at the previous meeting to constitute a new question.

Dan Albas gave notice of the following motion:

That, further to the appearance of the Chief Statistician, the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the Privacy Commissioner, TransUnion, the Canadian Banker’s Association, Ann Cavoukian and the Canadian Civil Liberties Association to appear.

At 5:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
