Phil McColeman moved, — That the Standing Committee on Finance invite the Honourable Bill Morneau to appear before the Committee to answer questions about the Government’s Monday, June 20, 2016, agreement with the provinces to expand the Canada Pension Plan.
Francesco Sorbara moved, — That the motion be amended by substituting all the words after the word “Morneau” with the following: “and departmental officials to appear before the committee on Monday, September 19, 2016, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with officials staying for a second hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., to answer questions about the Government’s Monday, June 20, 2016, agreement with the provinces to expand the Canada Pension Plan, and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure schedule a further meeting to hear from stakeholders".
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Francesco Sorbara and it was agreed to.

Phil McColeman moved, — That the Standing Committee on Finance invite the Canadian Federation of Independent Business to provide testimony on how the Government’s Monday, June 20, 2016, agreement with the provinces to expand the Canada Pension Plan will impact jobs, economic growth and Business investment.

Phil McColeman moved, — That the Standing Committee on Finance invite the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board to appear before the committee to provide testimony and answer questions about their investment strategy and projections for future rates of return.

Phil McColeman moved, — That the Standing Committee on Finance invite the Chief Actuary of Canada to appear before the committee to provide testimony and answer questions about how the Monday, June 20, 2016, agreement with the provinces to expand the Canada Pension Plan will affect the fund’s financial sustainability.
The question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 4; NAYS: 5.
It was agreed, — That during its Pre-Budget Consultations hearings the weeks of 3 and 17 October 2016, the Committee use an ‘open mic’ format and - on a first-come, first-served basis - individuals who submit their name at least one hour before the time at which the Committee's last panel with invited witnesses is scheduled to end, will have up to one minute to share their comments with Committee members.
At 11:53 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
