Sheila Malcolmson moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada to appear no later than December 2018 to brief the Committee on the Government’s efforts to immediately end the practice of forced and coerced sterilization of Indigenous women, pursuant to the Minister’s mandate for a ‘’renewed, nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous Peoples, based on recognition of rights, respect, cooperation, and partnership’’ and the Government’s commitment to Article 7(2) of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and that the meeting be televised and no less than one hour in length.
Pam Damoff moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the word “Canada”, the words “or department officials”.
After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Pam Damoff and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

The motion, as amended, read as follows:
That the Committee invite the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada or department officials to appear no later than December 2018 to brief the Committee on the Government’s efforts to immediately end the practice of forced and coerced sterilization of Indigenous women, pursuant to the Minister’s mandate for a ‘’renewed, nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous Peoples, based on recognition of rights, respect, cooperation, and partnership’’ and the Government’s commitment to Article 7(2) of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and that the meeting be televised and no less than one hour in length.
Questioning of the witnesses resumed.
Rachael Harder moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Status of Women Canada to brief the Committee on her new mandate, given that Status of Women Canada is changing to the Department of Women and Gender Equality, no later than Wednesday, February 13, 2019, and that this meeting be no less than one hour in length.
Debate arose thereon.
