Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the State of Canadian Museums.

Jean-Claude Poitras, Joanne Watkins and Catherine C. Cole made statements and answered questions.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:51 a.m., the sitting resumed.

At 9:51 a.m., Pierre Nantel took the Chair.

Robin Etherington and Alexandra Badzak made statements and answered questions.

At 10:06 a.m., Hon. Hedy Fry took the Chair.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

At 10:43 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:44 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the motion adopted on June 14, 2016 concerning the Committee’s travel to Saint John’s (NFL), Sackville (NS) and Granby (QC) be rescinded.

It was agreed, — That the Committee travel to Saint John’s (NFL) and Granby (QC) in the fall of 2016, in relation to its study on the Media and Local Communities.

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a draft budget respecting the Committee's proposed travel to Saint John’s (NFL) and Granby (QC), in relation to its study on the Media and the Local Communities, for consideration by the Committee on Thursday, June 16, 2016.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of on the Media and the Local Communities, the proposed budget in the amount of $82,007.50, for the Committee’s travel to Kamloops (BC), Edmonton (AB), Winnipeg (MAN) and Windsor (ON), in the Fall 2016, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of on the Media and the Local Communities, the proposed budget in the amount of $48,899.50, for the Committee’s travel to Saint John’s (NFL) and Granby (QC), in the Fall 2016, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the budgets to the Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee for its approval.

At 11:06 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
