The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $11,600, for the study of the official notices of non-compliance from China for exports of Canadian canola seeds, be adopted.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, the Committee resumed its study of the perception of and public trust in the Canadian agricultural sector.

Susie Miller made a statement.

At 12:10 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

Lloyd Longfield gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear on Thursday, May 2, 2019, as the new Minister and to discuss departmental plans for the upcoming year.

Ron Bonnett, Robert Saik, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Kim McConnell, by videoconference from Calgary, Alberta, made statements.

Luc Berthold gave notice of the following motion:

That, during the meeting of Thursday, May 2, 2019, the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food appear for two hours to answer questions on international trade, including relations with China, during the second hour of her testimony.

At 12:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
