The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 1:20 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Irwin Cotler, Nina Grewal, Scott Reid, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and David Sweet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Erin Shaw, Analyst; Miguel Bernal-Castillero, Analyst.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $2,750, for the study of the Persecution of Religious Minorities in Iraq by ISIL/Daesh, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $2,500, for the study of the Challenges Faced by North Korean Refugees, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $5,300, for the study of the Human Rights Situation in Honduras, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $1,500, for the study of Forced Harvesting and Trafficking of Human Organs, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $8,350, for the study of the Aftermath of the Rwandan Crisis, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $250, for the briefing with Ahmed Shaheed, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That Lilian Tintori, wife of Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, and Jared Genser, international human rights lawyer and counsel to Leopoldo Lopez, be invited to appear by videoconference on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, to discuss arbitrary detention and political opposition in Venezuela.

 

At 1:36 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
