The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Guy Caron, Joan Crockatt, Ryan Leef, Pat Perkins, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Dany Morin for Linda Duncan and John Rafferty for Chris Charlton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Derek Gray, Emeritus Professor, Department of Chemistry, McGill University; Sudip Kumar Rakshit, Professor, Canada Research Chair in Bioenergy and Biorefining Processes, Lakehead University; Mohini Mohan Sain, Dean and Professor, Faculty of Forestry, University of Toronto. Fortress Paper: Yvon Pelletier, President, Fortress Specialty Cellulose Ltd; Marco Veilleux, Vice President, Business Development and Special Projects . MLTC Resource Development LP: Ben Voss, President and CEO.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, January 29, 2015, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of Canada’s forest industry.
 

Yvon Pelletier, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Ben Voss, Sudip Kumar Rakshit, Mohini Mohan Sain and Derek Gray, made statements and, with Marco Veilleux, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, answered questions.

 

At 5:05 p.m., Guy Caron took the Chair.

 

At 5:09 p.m., Leon Benoit took the Chair.

 

At 5:25 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
