The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Joe Preston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Christopherson, Kevin Lamoureux, Alexandrine Latendresse, Dave MacKenzie, Ted Opitz, Joe Preston, Scott Reid, Blake Richards and Craig Scott.

 

Acting Members present: Dan Albas for Tom Lukiwski.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andre Barnes, Analyst; Martha Butler, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Hon. Peter Milliken, Former Speaker of the House of Commons.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a)(viii) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, the Committee resumed its review of the Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons.
 

Hon. Peter Milliken made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analysts for a report.
 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee, in relation to Bill C-50, An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act, invite the Minister of State (Democratic Reform) and the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, to appear before the Committee as soon as possible.

 

It was agreed, — That, in preparation of its study of Bill C-50, an Act to amend the Canada Elections Act, the members of the Committee submit to the Clerk of the Committee their lists of proposed witnesses no later than Friday, May 8, 2015.

 

At 12:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
