The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

Acting Members present: Erin O'Toole for Scott Armstrong and Mike Wallace for Larry Maguire.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to the Centennial Flame Research Award Act and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee commenced its study of the 2014 Centennial Flame Research Award.
 

It was agreed, — That Selma Kouidri be the recipient of the 2014 Centennial Flame Research Award and that a press release be published on the Committee's website.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of the Labour Market Development Agreements (LMDA).
 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Better jobs for Canadians: A Study on the Renewal of the Labour Market Development Agreements".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting opinions, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that the number of pages allotted for this be no more than 10% of the length of the report and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Monday, December 22, 2014.

 

At 11:22 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
