House of Commons Finance Committee Tables Report on RMB
Ottawa, June 08, 2015 -
Today, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance released a report entitled A North American Renminbi Hub: Canada as the Leader.
The Committee heard from a range of witnesses concerning the use and management of the renminbi (RMB), offshore RMB hubs, and about some expected impacts of the Canadian RMB hub.
James Rajotte, Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Leduc and Chair of the Committee, commented on the study, stating, “the Committee is proud of the fact that Canada is the location of North America’s first RMB hub, and was grateful for the testimony of the witnesses who appeared as well as for those who submitted written briefs.”
The report summarizes the testimony and written submissions received by the Committee during the study, which occurred in February 2015. The Committee met with 15 organizations and one individual, and received an additional four written briefs. The testimony and written submissions are available on the Committee’s website.
