The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in camera at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Robert Aubin, Colin Carrie, François Choquette, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, Hon. John McKay, Robert Sopuck, Brian Storseth, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Charmaine Borg for Mylène Freeman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee resumed its study on habitat conservation in Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Terrestrial Habitat Conservation in Canada".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a ten (10) meeting study on the Water quality of the Great Lakes Basin. This study will focus on three (3) areas: (a) identifying locations within the Great Lakes Basin that are of environmental concern and the prioritization of these areas to be addressed; (b) reviewing the efforts that are planned and/or currently underway to remediate the identifiable areas of environmental concern; and (c) recommending best practices that will facilitate the further remediation of areas of environmental concern within the Great Lakes Basin.

 

It was agreed, — That the first meeting back after the adjournment be a meeting of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure.

 

At 11:41 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
