The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Greg Kerr, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvain Chicoine, Royal Galipeau, Parm Gill, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Bryan Hayes, Greg Kerr, Wladyslaw Lizon, John Rafferty, Peter Stoffer and Frank Valeriote.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research: Alice Aiken, Director. VeteranVoice.info: Ronald Cundell, Publisher. Wounded Warriors Canada: Chris Linford, National Ambassador; Phil Ralph, National Program Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.
 

On motion of Parm Gill, it was agreed, — That Frank Valeriote be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, October 17, 2013 and section 20.1 of the Enhanced New Veterans Charter Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

Sylvain Chicoine gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee ask the Minister of Veterans Affairs to bring forward, as quickly as possible, a bill improving the New Veterans Charter based on the various reports already prepared in this regard, without waiting for the study findings.

 

At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
