The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Peter Braid, Hon. Ron Cannan, Linda Duncan, Jacques Gourde, Jean-François Larose, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Tina Lise LeGresley, Analyst; Lindsay McGlashan, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: John McBain, Assistant Deputy Minister, Real Property Branch; Caroline Weber, Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services and Strategic Policy Branch. Department of Natural Resources: Carol Buckley, Director General, Office of Energy Efficiency; Geoff Munro, Chief Scientist and Assistant Deputy Minister, Innovation and Energy Technology Sector.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order108(3)(c)(iv) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 27, 2012, the Committee commenced its study of energy efficiency in Government buildings, structures and public works.
 

John McBain and Geoff Munro made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

John McCallum moved, — That the Committee request an appearance from the National Fighter Jet Secretariat to discuss their objectives and plans in relation to the purchase of replacement aircraft for the CF-18.

Debate arose thereon.

 

Mike Wallace moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 4.

 

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite P. Thomas Jenkins, appointed to the position of Special Adviser to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services, to appear at its meeting of Thursday, October 4, 2012, pursuant to Standing Order 111(1), for a short appearance and one round of questions by all political parties.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
