     Good morning, everyone. Good morning, members.
     Honourable members of the committee, I see a quorum. We can now proceed to the election of the chair.
     Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the chair must be a member of the government party.

[Translation]

    I am now ready to receive motions for the chair.

    Mr. Dechert.
    Madam Clerk, I'd like to propose the name of Mr. Dean Allison for chair of the committee.
    It's been moved by Mr. Dechert that Mr. Allison be elected as chair of the committee.
    Are there any further motions? Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
    The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Allison duly elected chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
    The Clerk: Before I invite you to take the chair, I'm going to do the election of the vice-chairs.

[Translation]

    Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the first vice-chair must be a member of the official opposition.

    I'm now prepared to receive motions for the first vice-chair.
    Mr. Dechert.
    Madam Clerk, I'd like to propose Mr. Dewar for vice-chair.
    It's been moved by Mr. Dechert that Mr. Dewar be elected as first vice-chair of the committee.

    Are there any further motions?
    Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)

    The Clerk: Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the second vice-chair must be a member of the opposition party other than the official opposition.

    I am now ready to receive motions for the position of second vice-chair.

    I'll nominate my New Brunswick colleague, Dominic LeBlanc.
    It's been moved by Mr. Williamson that Mr. LeBlanc be elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt this motion?

[Translation]

    (Motion agreed to)
    The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. LeBlanc duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.

    The Clerk: I now invite Mr. Allison to take the chair.
     I want to welcome everyone back from the summer.
    We don't have a lot of business for today. I was wondering if we could move into committee business for a couple of short things, and then we'll adjourn for today and we'll get started again next week. Is that okay?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
    The Chair: All right. We'll move into committee business then.
