The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Bob Dechert, Paul Dewar, Nina Grewal, Ève Péclet, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger, Dave Van Kesteren and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Linda Duncan for Paul Dewar, Hon. Mark Eyking for Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Hon. Ralph Goodale for Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Alexandrine Latendresse for Hélène Laverdière and Megan Anissa Leslie for Romeo Saganash.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Government of the United Kingdom: Gavin McGillivray, Head of Department, Private Sector Department, Department for International Development (DFID).

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on the role of the private sector in achieving Canada's international development interests.
 

The witness made a statement.

 

At 3:45 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the current situation in Ukraine.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:30 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 5:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
