The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met by videoconference at 9:05 a.m. this day, in Room 853, 131 Queen St., the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Claude Guimond, Richard M. Harris, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Geoff Regan and Alan Tonks.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Devinder Shory and Brad Trost for Mike Allen.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board: Max Ruelokke, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Jeff Bugden, Manager, Industrial Benefits Power and Regulatory Coordination. Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board: Diana Dalton, Chair; Stuart Pinks, Chief Executive Officer. Stena Drilling Ltd.: Stuart Greer, Rig Manager, Stena Carron; John Banks, Chief Operating Officer. As an individual: William Adams, Research Scientist. Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors: Don Herring, President. Eastern Canada Response Corporation: James Carson, President and General Manager. World Wildlife Fund (Canada): Craig Stewart, Director, Arctic Program.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 6, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the status of the Emergency Response to Offshore Oil and Gas Drilling.
 

Max Ruelokke, Diana Dalton and, Stuart Greer by videoconference from Abderdeen, Scotland, made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:10 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

William Adams, Don Herring, James Carson and Craig Stewart made statements and answered questions.

 

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
