The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Steven Blaney, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Steven Blaney, Royal Galipeau, Bernard Généreux, Yvon Godin, Guy Lauzon, Brian Murphy, Richard Nadeau, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, Greg Rickford and Lise Zarac.

 

Acting Members present: Jean-Yves Laforest for Monique Guay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst; Nicolas Auclair, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canada Border Services Agency: Luc Portelance, President; Camille Therriault-Power, Vice-President, Human Resources Branch; Pierre Sabourin, Vice-President, Operations Branch. Department of Public Safety: William Victor Baker, Deputy Minister; Denis Desharnais, Director General, Human Resources; Daniel Sansfaçon, Director, Policy, Research and Evaluation Division, National Crime Prevention Centre and Official Languages Co-champion.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f), the Committee resumed consideration of the 2009-2010 Annual Report (Volume II) of the Commissioner of Official Languages referred to the Committee on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
 

Luc Portelance made a statement and, with Camille Therriault-Power and Pierre Sabourin, answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

William Victor Baker made a statement and, with Daniel Sansfaçon and Denis Desharnais, answered questions.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
