The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D.Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bouchard, Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Hon. Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

 

Acting Members present: Claude Gravelle for Brian Masse and Peter Julian for Brian Masse.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dillan Theckedath, Analyst; Mathieu Frigon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry Canada: Richard Dicerni, Deputy Minister; Paul Boothe, Senior Associate Deputy Minister; Kelly Gillis, Chief Financial Officer, Comptrollership and Administration Sector. Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2010-2011: Vote 1a under ATLANTIC CANADA OPPORTUNITIES AGENCY, Vote 5a under ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF CANADA FOR THE REGIONS OF QUEBEC, Votes 1a, 5a, 10a , 35a, 60a, 65a, 70a and 95a under INDUSTRY, Vote 5a under WESTERN ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION referred to the Committee on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, May 13, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-14, An Act to amend the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act and the Weights and Measures Act.
