The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 8:51 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, the Hon. Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Lois Brown, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Nina Grewal, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville and Michelle Simson.

 

Acting Members present: Niki Ashton for Irene Mathyssen, Luc Malo for Nicole Demers, Alexandra Mendes for Hon. Anita Neville and Terence Young for Dona Cadman.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 8, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of increasing the participation of women in non-traditional occupations.
 

At 9:41 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Building the Pipeline: Increasing Women in Non-Traditional Occupations".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from members of the Conservative Party provided that it is no more than five (5) pages in length (12 point font, with line spacing of 1.5) and that the dissenting opinion be submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 30, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite officials from Status of Women Canada to appear before the Committee for one hour, on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, in order to discuss the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2010-2011.

 

At 10:21 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
