The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, the Hon. Hedy Fry, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Lois Brown, Paul Calandra, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Michelle Simson and Alice Wong.

 

Acting Members present: Brent Rathgeber for Lois Brown and Lise Zarac for Hon. Anita Neville.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool; Laura Munn-Rivard.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 12, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of maternal and child health.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Maternal and Child Health.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting/supplementary opinion of any length from the members of the Conservative party provided that it is in 12 point font, with line spacing of 1.5 and that the dissenting/supplementary opinion be submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee make the necessary arrangements for a press conference to be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. after the tabling of the Committee’s report to the House on Maternal and Child Health.

 

It was agreed, — That a news release be prepared by the analysts and the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair and Vice-Chairs, for publication on the Committee's website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

 

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
