The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Jim Abbott, Dean Allison, Johanne Deschamps, Paul Dewar, Peter Goldring, Francine Lalonde, James Lunney, Deepak Obhrai, Bernard Patry, Hon. Bob Rae and Dave Van Kesteren.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. John McKay for Glen Douglas Pearson.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Andrew Lauzon. Library of Parliament: James Lee; Allison Goody.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the situation at Rights & Democracy (International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development).
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: “Rights & Democracy: Moving Towards a Stronger Future”.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House on Thursday, June 17, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from the Conservative Party of Canada, provided that it is submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in both official languages.

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
