The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met by videoconference at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 853, 131 Queen St., the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, James Bezan, Bernard Bigras, Blaine Calkins, Linda Duncan, David J. McGuinty, Christian Ouellet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Dan McTeague for Francis Scarpaleggia, Hon. Maria Minna for Justin Trudeau, Bev Shipley for Jeff Watson and Tim Uppal for Stephen Woodworth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: National Aboriginal Council on Species at Risk (NACOSAR): Lola Antonius, Policy and Planning; Dean Holman, Coordinator. Walpole Island First Nation: Clinton Jacobs, Coordinator, Natural Heritage; Kennon Johnson, Councillor. Congress of Aboriginal Peoples: Alastair MacPhee, Policy Advisor; Joshua McNeely, Policy Advisor.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), section 129 of the Species at Risk Act and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

Alastair MacPhee made a statement and, with Joshua McNeely, answered questions.

 

Kennon Johnson made a statement and, with Clinton Jacobs, answered questions, by videoconference from London, Ontario.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Dean Holman made a statement and, with Lola Antonius, answered questions.

 

At 5:11 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:14 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
