The Subcommittee on Food Safety of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in a televised session at 4:05 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Malcolm Allen, David Anderson, André Bellavance, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Hon. Wayne Easter, Larry Miller and Bev Shipley.

 

Acting Members present: Kirsty Duncan for Hon. Wayne Easter.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Federal Accountability Initiative for Reform (FAIR): David Hutton, Executive Director. Canadian Pork Council: Dawn Lawrence, Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA) Program Coordinator. Piller Sausages and Delicatessens Ltd.: James M. Laws, Executive Director, Canadian meat Council. Canadian Sheep Federation: Jennifer MacTavish, Executive Director. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Order of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food made Thursday, February 12, 2009 and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the Subcommittee resumed its study of food safety.
 

Thomas Olson, Peter Stein, James M. Laws, Dawn Lawrence, Jennifer MacTavish made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:58 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:06 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

David Hutton and Terry Pugh made statements and answered questions.
