The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Nicole Demers, Luc Desnoyers, Hon. Hedy Fry, Candice Hoeppner, Irene Mathyssen, Cathy McLeod, Hon. Anita Neville, Dave Van Kesteren, Alice Wong and Lise Zarac.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Analyst; Lara Trehearne, Analyst.

 
The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

At 3:39 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

On motion of Anita Neville, it was agreed, — That Hon. Hedy Fry be elected Chair of the Committee.

 

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the Vice-Chairs.

 

On motion of Alice Wong, it was agreed, — That Candice Hoeppner be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

On motion of Luc Desnoyers, it was agreed, — That Irene Mathyssen be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

The Hon. Hedy Fry took the Chair.

 

At 3:54 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee orders fruit, healthy snacks, cookies and yogurt for the Committee's meetings.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee study concurrently: Women and pension security, including public pensions, private pensions and pensions for women who have not participated in the paid work force and increasing the participation of women in non-traditional occupations.

 

At 4:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
