Q-3182 — June 19, 2008 — Ms. McDonough (Halifax) — With respect to Canada's support for the Hague Convention on the International Protection of Adults: (a) what is the current status of the Convention; (b) what steps is the government taking to move towards ratification; (c) what formal negotiations or processes are currently in place between the federal and provincial governments to ensure adoption and coverage for the Convention in all jurisdictions; (d) what is the government's timeline and conditions for ratification of the Convention; (e) which departments are involved in the Convention; and (f) notwithstanding ratification of the Hague convention, is the government committed to continue providing consular support for Canadian citizens overseas?
