The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Gord Brown, Hon. Roy Cullen, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Dave MacKenzie, Colin Mayes, Serge Ménard, Rick Norlock, Penny Priddy and Ève-Mary Thaï Thi Lac.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Marlene Jennings for Hon. Sue Barnes.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, the Committee resumed its study of the Taser.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That RCMP officials Bob Paulson, Chief Superintendent and Acting Assistant Commissioner, National Security Criminal Investigation, (Paulson) and Raf Souccar, Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Federal Policing, (Souccar) who appeared before the Committee on June 10, 2008, as well as Sergeant Sylvie Tremblay of the RCMP, be invited to appear on Wednesday, June 18 to explain why Paulson and Souccar refused to reveal to the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security the fact that they did not advise the Privy Council Office of security concerns in relation to Ms. Julie Couillard.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:28 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
