The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 9:06 a.m. this day, in Room 214, Wellington Building, the Chair, Hon. Diane Marleau, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Charlie Angus, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Meili Faille, Raymonde Folco, Mark Holland, Daryl Kramp, Hon. Diane Marleau and Mario Silva.

 

Acting Members present: Bradley R. Trost for Chris Warkentin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Philippe Le Goff, Analyst; Mathieu Stanton, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 , the Committee resumed its study of the improvement of Passport Canada's services in the regions of Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Passport Canada: A model to be reviewed".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite to appear the "CABiNET Business Network", which represents SME in data-processing services, which considers unacceptable the new government policies regarding the purchases of hardware and computer software; that one minimum period of 1 hour would be allocated and this even in the possibility of the adjournment of the House of Commons; And that the Committee invite officials from the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada to discuss government policies regarding the purchases of hardware and computer software to the same meeting.

 

At 10:01 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
