The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:09 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Fabian Manning, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Gerald Keddy, Yvon Lévesque, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Fabian Manning, Bill Matthews and Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: David Bevan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries and Aquaculture Management; Mimi Breton, Assistant Deputy Minister, Oceans and Habitat Sector; George Da Pont, Commissioner, Canadian Coast Guard; Claire Dansereau, Associate Deputy Minister; Cal Hegge, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services; Serge Labonté, Senior Director General, Science Renewal; Bill Doubleday, Director General, Economic Analysis and Statistics.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under FISHERIES AND OCEANS referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.
 

The witnesses answered questions.

 

At 10:10 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:15 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That Votes 1, 5 and 10 under FISHERIES AND OCEANS less the amount voted in Interim Supply, be carried.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair report Votes 1, 5 and 10 under FISHERIES AND OCEANS less the amount voted in Interim Supply, to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:49 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
