The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:07 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Dean Allison, Art Hanger, Guy Lauzon, Rob Merrifield, Hon. Judy Sgro and Paul Szabo.

 

Other Members present: Rob Anders, Meili Faille, Yvon Godin, Mark Holland, Randy Kamp, Pauline Picard and Lee Richardson.

 

In attendance: Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration: William Farrell, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Natural Resources: Chad Mariage, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security: Louise Hayes, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs: Alexandre Roger, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Official Languages: Danielle Bélisle, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: Richard Dupuis, Clerk of the Committee. House of Commons: Linda Biard, Manager, Financial Planning.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee resumed its study on Budget submissions.
 

The Clerk gave a presentation on the financial status of the global envelope for committee activities

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs be granted a travel budget of $2,056 to travel to Montreal and Ottawa, for site visits in order to gain better understanding of the service and care provided to Canadian Veterans, in November 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration be granted a travel budget of $8,663 to travel to Kingston, for a site visit in relation to its study on refugee issues, on October 30 and 31, 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration be granted a travel budget of $20,195 to travel to Montreal, to attend the Fall Consultation of the Canadian Council for Refugees, from November 22 to 25, 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a supplementary travel budget of $26,570 to travel to St. Anthony, Gander, Cap-aux-meules and Yarmouth, from November 5 to 9, 2006 for its studies of the Canadian seal hunt and of Grey seals.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $136,329 to travel to Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina and St. Boniface, in relation to its study on the vitality of official language minority communities, in November and December 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $132,038 to travel to St. John's, Moncton, Sherbrooke, Toronto and Sudbury, in relation to its study on the vitality of official language minority communities, in November and December 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security be granted a budget of $1,675 to participate in the CASIS (Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies) 2006 International Conference, in Ottawa from October 26 to 28, 2006.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Natural Resources be granted a travel budget of $34,343 to travel to Calgary and Fort McMurray, in relation to its study of the oil sands, on November 19 and 20, 2006.

 

At 1:56 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
