Meeting No. 8

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Lee Richardson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Catherine Bell, Serge Cardin, Hon. Roy Cullen, Richard Harris, Christian Ouellet, Christian Paradis, Lee Richardson, Lloyd St. Amand, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

Associate Members present: Dennis Bevington.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Tom Wallace, Director General, Electricity Resources Branch, Energy Policy Sector; Christopher Johnstone, Chief, Fuels Policy and Programs, Office of Energy Efficiency, Energy Technology and Programs Sector. Canadian Wind Energy Association: Robert Hornung, President. Canadian Solar Industries Associations: Rob McMonagle, Executive Director; Christian Vachon, Former President.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.

The Clerk of the Committee presided over the election of the first Vice-Chair.

On motion of Roy Cullen, it was agreed, — That Lloyd St. Amand be elected First Vice-Chair of the Committee.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of Natural Resources Sectors in Canada - Alternative Energy.

Tom Wallace, Christopher Johnstone, Rob McMonagle and Robert Hornung made statements and, with the other witness, answered questions.

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
