The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in camera at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Guy Lauzon, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Sylvie Boucher, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Jean-Claude D'Amours, Yvon Godin, Luc Harvey, Guy Lauzon, Pierre Lemieux, Luc Malo, Brian Murphy, Richard Nadeau and Pablo Rodriguez.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Rodrigue Paré, Analyst.

 
The Committee resumed its study of the draft report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities.
 

It was agreed,— That notwithstanding the motions adopted on March 20 and April 19, 2007, the Introduction, Chapter 1 and all the recommendations of the report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities be tabled immediately, at the request of a Member of the Official Languages Committee, if that Member insists that a general federal election will be called imminently.

 

It was agreed,— That if the report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities is tabled in its entirety, a political party shall be allowed to revise or withdraw its supplementary or dissenting opinion tabled before the Official Languages Committee on April 24, 2007.

 

It was agreed,— That if it is impossible to table the report on the Vitality of Official Language Minority Communities before a general federal election is called, the in camera session on the contents of the report shall be adjourned immediately.

 

At 10:02 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
