The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Colleen Beaumier, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Patricia Davidson, Rick Dykstra, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Rob Merrifield and Penny Priddy.

 

Acting Members present: Louise Thibault for Luc Malo.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst; Odette Madore, Analyst; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Courtney Banman; Pam Miles-Séguin.

 

At 3:42 p.m., the Committee proceeded to sit in public.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Childhood Obesity.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Healthy Weights for Healthy Kids.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a dissenting opinion from Christiane Gagnon, MP, and Luc Malo, MP, from the Bloc québécois, provided that it is no more than four pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than 1:00 p.m., on Friday, March 23, 2007.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
