The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 4:34 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Guy André, Leon Benoit, Ron Cannan, Hon. Mark Eyking, Helena Guergis, Peter Julian, Hon. Dominic LeBlanc, Pierre Lemieux, John Maloney, Ted Menzies, Pierre A. Paquette and Lui Temelkovski.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Holden, Analyst; Elizabeth Kuruvila, Analyst. Standing Committee on International Trade: Alexandre Roger, Co-Clerk of the Committee.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: Scott Sinclair, Senior Research Fellow. Grey, Clark, Shih and Associates Limited: Peter D. Clark, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced its study of the WTO (Services, Agriculture and Non-Agricultural Market Access).
 

Scott Sinclair and Peter Clark made statements and answered questions.

 

Pierre A. Paquette moved, — That the Committee on International Trade hold a supplementary session to hear witnesses on the Canada-US softwood lumber framework agreement.

Debate arose thereon.

 

Peter Julian moved, — That the words ''a supplementary session'' be replaced by ''supplementary sessions''.

 

After debate, the question was put on the amendment of Peter Julian and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 7; NAYS: 4.

 

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the Committee on International Trade hold supplementary sessions to hear witnesses on the Canada-US softwood lumber framework agreement.

At 5:34 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
