The Subcommittee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N Centre Block, the Chair, John Cannis, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: John Cannis, Hon. Mark Eyking, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Peter Julian, Ted Menzies and Pierre A. Paquette.

 

Acting Members present: John Duncan for Belinda Stronach .

 

Other Members present: Johanne Deschamps.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Peter Berg, Analyst; Michael Holden, Analyst; Blayne Haggart, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of International Trade: Elaine Feldman, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Trade Policy and Negotiations. Quebec Forest Industry Council: Marc P. Boutin, Director, International Trade. As an Individual: Carl Grenier.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Subcommittee on November 2, 2004, the Subcommittee resumed its study of Canada-U.S. Trade Issues - Softwood Lumber.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee adopt the draft budgets for travel to Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Halifax and Montreal and that the Chair present the final budgets to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

 

It was agreed, — That the Members use their personal travel points to defray the costs of travel and that the savings be reported to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Budget Subcommittee of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
