The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in camera at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 362 East Block, the Chair, Pat O'Brien, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Hon. Larry Bagnell, Hon. Bill Blaikie, Rick Casson, Odina Desrochers, Betty Hinton, Hon. Judi Longfield, Dave MacKenzie, Keith Martin, Pat O'Brien, Gordon O'Connor and Anthony Rota.

 

Acting Members present: Bill Casey for Dave MacKenzie and Cheryl Gallant for Gordon O'Connor.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michel Rossignol, Analyst. As an Individual: Joseph P. Culligan, Consultant.

 

Witnesses: Department of National Defence: Capt(N) Patrick Finn, Senior Member, Naval Board of Inquiry; Sharon Chamberlain, Director General, Corporate and Shared Service.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed a briefing session on the Naval Board of Inquiry.
 

Ms. Chamberlain made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee travel to North Bay and Petawawa in June, to Quebec City, Montreal and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu in July, and confirm travel plans for Winnipeg, Victoria and Esquimalt, June 27 to 30, and Colorado Springs, Norfolk and Washington, July 10 to 15, as previously planned, in relation to its review of defence policy.

 

At 11:26 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
