The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 9:34 a.m. this day, in Room 536 Wellington Building, the Chair, Tom Wappel, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Raynald Blais, Randy Kamp, Gerald Keddy, Bill Matthews, Shawn Murphy, Jean-Yves Roy, Scott Simms, Peter Stoffer and Tom Wappel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: Robert Bergeron, Director General, Small Craft Harbours; David Bevan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries and Aquaculture Management; George Da Pont, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources and Corporate Services; Larry Murray, Deputy Minister.

 
By unanimous consent, the Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

By unanimous consent, on motion of Randy Kamp, it was agreed, — That the Committee discuss, at its next earliest opportunity, what action it should take in the event that the government does not respond to the Committee’s second report by May 21, 2005, as requested .

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2005-2006: Votes 1, 5 and 10 under Fisheries and Oceans referred to the Committee on February 25, 2005.
 

George Da Pont made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:28 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
