The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Charlie Angus, André Bellavance, James Bezan, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Mark Eyking, Réal Lapierre, Larry Miller, Gerry Ritz, David Smith, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: Gord Brown for James Bezan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Pork Council: Clare Schlegel, President; Edouard Asnong, First Vice-President. Canadian Cattlemen's Association: David Stewart, Executive Director, Ontario Cattlemen's Association; Ian McKillop, Director. Animal Nutrition Association of Canada: Henry Van de Velde, Executive Vice-President, Risk & Integration Strategies, Hytek Inc.; Dennis Kornelsen, Purchasing Manager, Grain and Ingredients, Hytek Inc.. Food and Consumer Products of Canada: Ellen Mary Mills, Director, Policy Development. Maple Leaf Foods Inc.: Annalisa King, Senior Vice-President, Vertical Coordination.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 28, 2005, the Committee resumed its study on corn imports from the United States.
 

Ian McKillop, Clare Schlegel, Edouard Asnong and Henry Van de Velde made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:47 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Ellen Mary Mills and Annalisa King made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
