The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in a televised session at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D Centre Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Eleni Bakopanos, Eugène Bellemare, Paul Bonwick, Judi Longfield, Larry McCormick, Brian Pallister and Suzanne Tremblay.

 

Acting Members present: Yvon Godin for Libby Davies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; Kevin Kerr, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Liza Frulla, Minister of Social Development; Hon. Joseph Volpe, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.

 

Witnesses: Department of Human Resources and Skills Development: Nicole Jauvin, Deputy Minister, Social Development Canada; Susan Scotti, Assistant Deputy Minister, Income Security Program; Cynthia Williams, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy; Wayne G. Wouters, Deputy Minister; Andrew Treusch, Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Investment Program.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing session on the Department's re-organization and other matters.
 

Hon. Joseph Volpe made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:06 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Hon. Liza Frulla made a statement and with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 11:00 a.m. the Vice-Chair Eugène Bellemare took the Chair.

 

At 11:11 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
